Location of Guanyin Township

Guanyin Township is located at the middle of Taoyuan County coast line and occupies 87.79 square kilometers of land. It is the biggest town along the cost line and is the forth biggest town in Taoyuan County after Fuxing, Daxi, and Yangmei Township. Guanyin Township connects East with Jhongli Township, South with Xingwu Township, and North East with Dayuan Township. Guanyin Township was developed in the early years by accessing the town through these three directions and now Guanyin Township is also divided into three areas with similar size: Guanyin, Sinpo and Chaota.

History

Guanyin Township was named after the Stone Guanyin. It was said that during the Sian Feng year of Ching Dynasty, a villager (Huang) found a natural stone shaped like Guanyin while he was farming. He then named it "Stone Guanyin." At that time, the village had a few years of tough time on farming with no rain, plague and illness spread in the village. A miracle happened with the Stone Guanyin: Spring water came out of the spot where Stone Guanyin was found and provide water to the village; the plague and illness were then eliminated. The village then built a temple to thank God and also name the village "Stone Guanyin Village" which was the original name of Guanyin Township.

Guanyin Township is currently planning on developing its tourism, education, medical system and attracts business groups to build a large technology area to make Guanyin Township the "Town of Hope" of Taoyuan County.

Transportation Guide and Driving Directions

Driving Directions:

• Take Dayuan Interchange and exit towards Dayuan, drive on Road No. 15 through Guanyin Industrial Park and turn right on Jhongshan Road.
• Take Dayuan Interchange and exit towards Dayuan, drive on Road No. 15 to Chaota Downtown. Keep going straight until you reach Guanyin.
• Take Jhongli Interchange (61KM) and exit towards Jhongli, turn left on Huanbei Road, turn left on the first traffic light and straight towards Guanyin.
• Take Jhongli Interchange (61KM) and exit towards Xingwu, straight into Xingwu Downtown, Turn right at the sign towards Guanyin.
• From Yangmei Train Station, turn right towards Xingwu, straight through Xingwu township until you reach Guanyin.
